INTER
SOCIETY TRIAL, Polesden Lacey, Great Bookham, Surrey.
Saturday
25th October 2003.
Judge:
Terry Coles
Amid the
resplendant autumn colours at Polesden Lacey, teams from East Anglia,
Mid-Shires, Surrey, Sussex, Thanet and Wessex competed in the Inter-Socities
trial on 25th October. In recent years Mid-Shires have won this trial
several years on the trot and so the handing back of the shield had become
rather perfunctory. However, all was to change this year. Drawn second
team to run the hosting society, Surrey, put in 5 strong performances
to win the trial with a decent margin of 42 points. The top 3 points were
achieved by dogs from Surrey, 2 of them home-bred dogs and the top 2 handled
by Philip Davies-Russell who has had a good season with his dogs. The
closest points to these was Carol Worgan's Spot, running for Wessex who
came third. The Surrey team consisted of Philip Davies-Russell with Layla
and Flynn, Fiona Davies-Russell with Kit, Andy Jackman with Bill and Penny
Roe with Patch.
