10.5.10 TRAGIC News that Charles Gotto who has made his land available for nursery trials these last two winters was killed in a farming accident yesterday morning. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.


Surrey SDS is to be involved with the organisation of the 2011 English National. Volunteers please step forward. The trials will be at Dorking on the beautiful North Downs at Lower Boxhill Farm, Dorking.


We have learnt that Tess Nash (another previous Surrey committee member) who moved to Cornwall some years ago passed away earlier this year.


2.9.09 Mandy Jobling (past Treasurer for Surrey SDS) passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer. The Society has sent a card for her family on behalf of all members.


23.8.09 Eamonn Lawless and Billl finished the 3rd day of the English National as the top scorers of the final day. The run-off put Eamonn and Bill on top again to become English National Champions 2009 and captain of the English team.
15 April 2009 It is with great sadness that we learned today of the death of Norman Seamark, former Chairman of the ISDS. Norman also judged trials in Surrey in years gone by, as well as running many trials from his own neck of the wood.

24.1.09 Maurice Upton has sadly passed away after a short illness.


12.1.09 Following the latest committee meeting it has been decided that the AGM will again be held at 16 Barnsbury Close, New Malden, Surrey, KT3 5BP


1.11.08 Good Luck to Lynne and Nick Zorab who are moving to Exmoor later this month.

22.10.08 Well done to Andy Jackman on winning the South East Championship trial with Clint, and also coming second with Jim.


25.4.08 Ros and Sarah have changed the date of their next training session to 4th May from 27th April.


22.4.08 Just heard that Brian Thomas the stick maker has passed away.


19.4.08 News of Mike Shepherd of Warehorne passing away. Contact Dave Thompson to attend the memorial service.


1.4.08 Ros and Sarah's training clinics start up again this month after lambing and should be on a monthly basis. Contact Ros.


31.3.08 Spring newsletter posted today along with entry form for two trials.

7.2.08 first trial date for this year announced - 28th June at Shabden Park Farm.


12.11.07 Newsletters were posted about a month ago. No further news on trials at the moment. Ros and Sarah held a training day yesterday, another is planned for January.


1.10.07 Trial re-scheduled to The Quarry has now been cancelled due to ongoing foot and mouth restrictions.


26.9.07 We are saddened to report that Cyril Fathers passed away last Friday 21st September. Cyril was a keen trialler and supporter of the Surrey SDS and represented Surrey on several occasions with Bob. 14.9.07 The trial on 23rd September at The Quarry has been postponed for the time being.


30.8.07 The trial at Loseley on 23rd September has been re-located to The Quarry at Betchworth on the same date.


23.8.07 FOOT AND MOUTH MOVEMENT RESTRICTIONS ARE EXPECED TO BE LIFTED AROUND 10TH SEPTEMBER. WE HAVE THEREFORE HAD TO CANCEL THE TWO DAYS TRIALLING AT POLESDEN LACEY.

20.8.07 CONGRATULATIONS to Jed Watson who gained places in the English team with both of his dogs - Rock and Roy.

CONGRATULATIONS to all members who competed at the National in Kirkby Lonsdale, in particular, RAY EDWARDS who won and Matt Watson and Dick Roper who came 8th and 13th.

ANDY JACKMAN won the Southeast Championships Trial on 9th October with Clint scoring 144 of a possible 170. He also won the Novice Championship with Nip, 78 points of 100. Well done also to Surrey committee member Robert Putnam who came 5th with Fly in the Open.

RAY EDWARDS won the Driving Championship at this year's International with a super display with his dog Jim, the only dog and handler to get all 50 sheep neatly through the drive gates. Well done Ray.


DICK ROPER and Sweep came 5th and RAY EDWARDS and Jim came 15th at the English National. They both therefore go forward to the International at Ross-on-Wye in September.
